Comfortable cool clothes and covered shoes. We cannot let you exercise in open-toed shoes, sandals or jandals, or with bare feet. Don't worry if you forget your shoes. We have a selection of New Balance gym shoes. Ask reception and they can lend you a pair to work out in. Please note t-shirts or singlets must always be worn on the gym floor.
You should always remember a water bottle to keep you hydrated and a small sweat towel.. Don't forget your swimming cap and goggles if you want to swim. We provide complimentary shampoo and body wash in our showers and can rent you a towel if you forget yours.
Our Mt Eden gym at 8 Nugent St is open from 5.45am–9pm from Monday to Friday, 7am–5pm on Saturday, and 9am– pm on Sunday. Our Ascot gym in Greenlane is open from 6am–8pm Monday to Friday and 9am–3pm on Saturday. We are closed on public holidays. Please leave the gym premises punctually when we close.
To ensure all our members have access to lockers throughout the day, each member must clear their locker after use. Lockers are also cleared at night for security and hygiene reasons and to facilitate daily cleaning.
Three times a week is enough for beginners to see benefits. A five to 10-minute warm up followed by the 30-minute Supervised Circuit should be adequate on those visits. It is important that you have a day's rest in between your strength training workouts to give your body time to recover. If cardiovascular fitness is also a goal, you can supplement the Supervised Circuit with at least 20 minutes of cardio, either on the same day you do the Supervised Circuit or on an alternate day.
Let Reception know that you haven't been to the gym for a while so they can call a fitness instructor to the desk to help you get started. If it's been a few months, you may want to call us 09 623 3383 and book a First Workout so a fitness instructor can reintroduce you to your workout.

The moment you start an exercise plan you are seeing some, if not all, the benefits of a structured exercise programme. Your circulation will increase and you will start to burn calories. It will take at least 4 to 6 weeks of regular exercise with continuous improvements to increase strengh, lose fat and see changes in your body shape.
Supervised Strike small-group boxing classes are included in your membership. Our specialist classes like Pilates and Yoga are a separate cost.
If you have permanently lost your membership tag, it can be replaced by reception for $10.
Our minimum joining age is 18 years. We can make individual exceptions for 16 and 17 year olds with specific health needs. Please contact us if you would like more information.

At BodyTech, we recognise that many of you, whether you admit it or not, may feel intimidated at the thought of exercising in a gym. But come and visit us and you'll see our gyms are for all sorts of people of different backgrounds, ages and levels of fitness. You'll see a lot of fit and healthy people, but don't be fooled, they didn't all walk in that way the first time. They're fitter and healthier because they have been coming to BodyTech for awhile and have been sticking to their goals. Our swimming pool is sanitised with chlorine and ozone. The ozone means less chlorine is needed. The chemical levels are tightly managed and recorded several times a day. Our pool isalso heated and aim to keep the water temperature at 27 degrees Celcius in winter and 25 degrees Celcius in summer.
Both are great when used properly. They are just different. The Steam Room uses moist heat while the Sauna uses dry heat.

The simple answer is no. While strengthening your abdominal muscles is good, it won't help you lose fat from that area. We recommend a full body workout that targets all of your major muscles. If you increase your muscle mass that will increase your metabolism - in other words how many calories you burn while not doing much. Combining this with healthy eating, will lead to fat loss - all over your body.

No, we do not allow external Personal Trainers access to our gyms. All of our Personal Trainers must complete a rigorous training programme before they can practise on the gym floor. This ensures we maintain our standards of excellence and keeps you safe.
Your safety is our priority and we pride ourselves on keeping our members safe while they exercise. If you have a medical condition we will request written recommendations from your doctor and/or health practitioner before getting you started or re-introducing you to exercise at BodyTech. This is so we can ensure the programme we deliver is both safe and effective given your health restrictions. We also have a MedFit service for people with complicated medical histories or those who feel they need more support while starting their exercise programme.
